The second-seeded Andreas Seppi continues to enjoy good fortune at the Vegeta Croatian Open after booking a semi-final spot on Friday.
The Italian received a first-round bye and then got through to the last eight when Andreas Haider-Maurer pulled out injured.
He was the beneficiary of another pull out today too as Horacio Zeballow was unable to continue after losing the opening set.
On the other side of the draw, Fabio Fognini saw off Martin Klizan 6-4 6-2 and will meet Gael Monfils who beat Albert Montanes 6-2 5-7 7-5.
Tommy Robredo later emerged as Seppi's semi-final opponent as the Spanish fifth seed saw off the threat of Aljaz Bedene of Slovenia, riding out a 6-1 6-4 win.
